There he meets with Priyanka Chopra who offers him alcohol, which he refuses. She introduces herself to him by saying that she has been dreaming of him. They become friends, and Rajiv tells her about his dream girl. Priyanka offers him a job in her father's company, which he accepts, after she offers him money to stay at a luxurious hotel for free. Priyanka's father is the owner of Verma Group of companies, named after Priyanka's grandfather. He tells Rajiv that if he can get married then his financial problems will be solved. Priyanka falls in love with Rajiv, but he does not accept her because he is in love with Anjali Mehra (played by Deepika Padukone). When Priyanka finds out about this she accepts it and loses interest. Rajiv's father comes to Mumbai to attend the wedding of Rajiv and his elder sister Shubhi, who is also in love with her sister-in-law Teni (also played by Deepika Padukone). Teni does not like the idea of Shubhi marrying her brother, so she leaves home without informing anyone . Not wanting to lose his family, Rajiv marries Teni. Soon after, Priyanka comes to Mumbai and offers Rajiv a job – but not as her secretary. She wants him to be a part of the Verma Group, the company she works for. Rajiv refuses and leaves to live with Anjali. Years later after being separated from Priyanka, he sees her on screen in a movie and remembers her face from his school days.
